CONGRATULATIONS ON AN AMAZING OPENING WEEKEND! I hope you are all resting and enjoying your week! A few notes and reminders:

1. Pick up rehearsal for ALL CAST Wednesday from 6:00-8:30 at BAYWOOD Elementary School.

2. Ticket Sales. Sunday's audience was phenomenal! It would be amazing to see full house at each of next weekend's shows. Everyone can help us achieve this... Please send out final reminders about the show to all your friends and family. The production is fantastic- Don't be shy about promoting it!. Emails to your child's class are a GREAT way to increase
ticket sales!!! Also check out the Foster City Islander this week to see a GREAT photo of Nicholas W, Emma, Susan & Taylor as well as an article describing the show and listing all the Foster City participants. Great job publicity team!

3. PLEASE check your baskets and make sure you have all your costume pieces. Several cast members have emailed me concerned about missing items. PLEASE BRING ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU to rehearsal on Wednesday. I have a basket of stuff that was left in the greenroom. The chaperones are doing a terrific job monitoring the cast and bringing all items left on the sides of the stage to the Green Room. It is the job of EVERY CAST MEMBER to retrieve your stuff after each show. I sent out an email about this prior to Sunday's show. We also reminded the cast about this at the show. PARENTS: Please speak to your cast member about this. I have over 25 articles of clothes in my car that was left in the Green Room.

4. Cast Party.
Please RSVP and pay Sara Steppe sarasteppe@gmail.com by Wednesday. The cost is $13 per person. Children 4 and under are free.

5. Dinner in between the shows on Saturday.
Wednesday is the last time to sign up for Pizza in around 4:45 on Saturday. If you would like Pizza in between the shows, please let Janice Gumas know and pay $8 per person. Parents, stage crew & other volunteers, please feel free to order pizza too. Saturday's show will end by 4:00. Call time will probably be around 6:00. We will have a few parents helping with the pizza, but we would appreciate parents staying after the show to hang with their children. Also, please bring a change of clothes since cast members can not eat in their costume.

This is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. Many families like to leave the theater to rest in between shows - others prefer to remain at Bayside. Please understand that if your cast members is staying at the theatre, an adult needs to be watching them. We have chaperones to help with the dinner, but it is too difficult to watch all the kids for the entire in between time.

6. Does your cast member have a birthday between Nov 1-15? Please let me know ASAP.

THANK YOU! Thank you! Thank you to ALL our committees!
What can I say… It is 10 days before opening night, and EVERYONE needs to be congratulated and thanked for your role in putting this show together. If there are cast members reading this, please go and thank your parents and other family members who have contributed tirelessly to this production. Each committee is working so hard and has accomplished so much already! Of course, there is still more to do, so we are expecting another productive weekend.

BUSY WEEKEND FOR SETS AND COSTUMES
A lot of work got done this past weekend. I can’t wait for the cast to see everything that these committees have been creating! Thank you to everyone who went to the Greenhouse to help with our amazing set painting and construction project this weekend. Also, major kudos to the team of costumers who worked for hours on Saturday and Sunday sewing and fitting everyone. The costume committee will be working all day this Saturday and Sunday to finish up. If there are folks who are not on the costume committee that are able to join them on Sunday, they would appreciate the help. Email Liana at Avehstab@aol.com if you are available for a few hours.

TICKETS/PUBLICIZING THE SHOW
The ticket committee has been busy filling 530 tickets. This is GREAT news and a terrific beginning. It is time for ALL OF US to think about WHO ELSE you can tell about the show. Are there places you can hang posters? Are there friends and family to remind about the show? Nothing is more effective than a phone call or personal email inviting them to see Joseph. Look in your neighborhood and see if there is anything else you can do to get the word out about the show. There are lots of folks purchasing tickets for the Sunday matinees. If you haven’t purchased your own tickets, please consider purchasing them for one of the Saturday nights since those are our least attended shows. Ticket forms are available (and can be dropped off) at WEEKEND REHEARSALS (or by ordering online).

PUBLICITY HELP NEEDED
I know MANY people have already put in way more than the 20 hours of pre-show work required to make our production successful, and I appreciate that. But again, if there is any way that you can find some time in your busy schedules this week to publicize the show EVEN MORE, we would all appreciate that. A separate email will be sent with some idea that we can
all do to spread the word about this great show.

FROM PUBLICITY!

We can see that Chariot of Gold coming: Joseph is almost here! Here are several ways to get the word out about our Amazing Technicolor Show:

1. Now is the time to remind everyone you know to get their tickets -- they may have been planning on coming, but most people need to be prodded to get on the web (www.piedpiperplayers.org -- ticket forms can be downloaded or tickets can be ordered online) or phone (992-7433 (PIED)) to purchase those tickets.

2. A handy reminder e-mail is already drafted for you (see below) -- send it to your e-mail lists, post it to your Yahoo groups -- it is always a great idea to send the note again as many people have lost the first one.

3. Encourage GROUPS to attend the show: mother's groups, church groups, choir groups, Boy/Girl Scouts, Seniors -- there are group discounts for groups of 10 or more attending the same show (tickets need to be ordered by phone at the same time)

4. Remember -- most people come because they heard about they show from a cast family: that is You! You are the best publicity ever!

5. Speaking of which: please have your cast member wear that walking advertisement: the cool t-shirt. The most cool billboard ever!

6. If you haven't already, please submit a blurb to any hard copy or online newsletter you receive (mother's groups, schools, after school activities...) A sample blurb is below.

7. HANG MORE POSTERS! These posters are gorgeous and we have a lot left -- let's get them up everywhere. We can use some help in Redwood City, please post there. Also, please revisit places you have posted and make sure the posters are still up and are not covered up. Take the posters with you when you go shopping, pick up your dry cleaning, visit your dentist, order lunch or dinner, get your hair or nails done -- a lot of businesses are willing to post these beauties! Maybe put up a couple more at schools if you already have permission -- that way all the kids will see the poster several times a day. With permission, leave a few post cards, business cards or half-sheet fliers at places that won't take a poster. If you have exhausted all possibilities, please bring your extra post cards, business cards and fliers to rehearsal so others can disseminate them as we have run out! A handy hint: if a place gets a lot o f walk-by traffic, as well as people hanging out inside, post the poster back-to-back -- that way it can be seen from inside or outside the window.

COSTUME UPDATE
Some of the costume changes in this show will be EXTREMELY quick (particularly at the end of the show when the entire cast has less than 2 minutes to take off their pants/skirt & shirt and put on their Megamix outfits (white pants/skirts and Joseph Show shirt).

It would help if EVERYONE wore something UNDERNEATH their costumes that they wouldn't mind being seen in. They probably will not have time to get to the dressing room and might be changing in the backstage hallway. Examples include white or tan shorts, white/tan/nude camisole/tank/undershirt/leotard, etc.

We are still in need of 3 pairs of gray leggings (children's smalls) for the mice. Please email Liana at Avehstab@aol.com if you have any we can borrow
for the run of the show.

Publicity Workday - For EVERYONE - Come Saturday OR Sunday (or BOTHJ) (from Leslie Ragsdale)
Joseph, Joseph, is it really true? Joseph, Joseph, is it really you? Joseph! Joseph!
Yes, it is true, Joseph is coming in ONE MONTH. Now it is time to get the word out, and as you now well know, we here at Pied Piper Players (and that means you too!!) like to do things in style! Wait until you see our absolutely AMAZING TECHNICOLOR posters, created by one of our lovely songstress multi-talented Narrator, Susan Melanson. Whether or not you have a part in the show, you have a part in the production -- a most crucial part -- getting your talented children an audience!! THIS WEEKEND, on both Saturday and Sunday from 12-2 p.m., we will have our publicity workday at Baywood FOR ALL CAST FAMILIES. Please pick a day and arrive at noon. We will have a short orientation and then put you to work. We will ask you to sign up for a designated area of one of our local towns and put that gorgeous poster up wherever you can THIS WEEKEND and leave our cool leave-behind flyers and postcards wherever you think interested people will gather them (at coffee shops, dance studios, children's gyms, your children's schools, etc.) Also, we will need a dedicated crew to put mailing labels on the postcards as we will mail them out to our ever-expanding mailing list. Please also plan on sending some of these to your own friends and family or handing them out all over town. Lastly, we have perfectly sized business cards that everyone can carry around town and pass out at a moment's notice to anyone who seems interested in the show. We will also mail a bunch of electronic announcements next week. To recap, see you this weekend from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday. Please bring a roll of scotch tape. If you cannot make either day, please notify Leslie Ragsdale at leslie_ragsdale@comcast.net (unless you have already) and let me know what area of town you'd like to paper with posters on a different date. Thanks in advance for your awesome cooperation! P.S. If you haven't handed in your family publicity survey, please do so as soon as possible-- it will really help us get the word out as broadly as possible.

Headshot Reminder
All cast members will have their headshots taken THIS weekend. There are 2 times available. Saturday from 12-2 and Sunday from 12-2. This is the only time to have your headshot taken. We will try to have all headshots taken on Saturday, and then use Sunday for those who have a PRIOR APPROVED Saturday conflict. Please wear an ALL BLACK TSHIRT.

Buy Your JOSEPH Tickets!
Tickets are on sale NOW! Make sure to get your orders in early for the best seats (all seats are assigned). Ticket prices are: $16 Adults, $12 Children/Seniors. Tickets can be purchased ONLINE, or by printing the ticket order form and turned in at rehearsals to the folder marked "Tickets" or mailed to the address on the form. Orders can also be placed on the phone, but our committee would prefer orders thru the ticket order form or online. All tickets will be held at WILL CALL (unless you provide a
self-addressed stamped envelope) with your order. Forms are on the website.

Recording your hours
How are you doing with your pre-show hours? As you all know, all families are required to do a minimum of 20 hours of pre-show (prior to tech week) work. If you are on set construction, make sure you record your hours by sign in/out each time you work at the Greenhouse.

Great rehearsal last weekend!

Acting Groups
Hope you all enjoyed the acting groups on Saturday. Thank you Leslie Stupple for helping us sharpen our acting skills. Everyone should be attending their assigned Acting Group (unless you have a previously approved conflict from prior to auditions). We appreciate those who have changed their schedules to eliminate their conflicts. It makes a huge difference in preparations for the show.

Publicity Note
As they said in our day, GET PSYCHED for Joseph!! Cast members and families -- do all of your friends and family know the dates of the show yet (November 2-11th, on weekends)? Do all of your friends know that tickets will go on sale on September 30th (go to www.piedpiperplayers.org for details)? Have you submitted your family publicity survey yet (by e-mail or
hard copy in survey envelope at rehearsal)? Do you mention the show to everyone you meet at PTA meetings, at work, or at the grocery store and, when they seem interested (or even not...), tell them to come see the show? Do you then tell them that the show plays on weekends November 2-11th and that tickets go on sale on September 30th and direct them to the website?
If your answer to all of these was YES -- you made our day (and yours too -- there is NOTHING like playing to a full house!!!) If not, please start talking up the show now. We will send you sample e-mails to send out soon, as well as a cool e-postcard. But, it is never, ever too early to get people to mark the show on their busy calendars! Also, mark your calendars for October 7th -- we need all families to put our awesome posters (wait until you see them!) up all over town. If you have a preference for which
towns to paper on October 7th, please send Leslie Ragsdale an e-mail at leslie_ragsdale@comcast.net -- we would like teams of 2 or 3 to put posters all over Burlingame, San Mateo/FC, Redwood Shores/City, San Bruno, Millbrae, Belmont and San Carlos. Thanks! P.S. Did you hear about Joseph and his cool coat? It was red, yellow, green, brown...and you can see it during the
first two weekends of November! -- Your Publicity Team (Leslie Ragsdale, Wendi Upchurch, Debi Birger and Melinda Earlywine)

Ad Sales/Kudos
Don’t forget to email ads for the playbill to advertising@piedpiperplayers.org and your kudos to playbill@playbill.org
Forms and details are in the Downloadable Forms section of the website.

Bios Due This Weekend
All members of the cast and staff will have a headshot and bio displayed in the lobby of Bayside Performing Arts Center. Please submit your bio via email to bios@piedpiperplayers.org by Saturday, September 30, 2007. A cast bio is a paragraph about each cast member. It is written in the third person. It usually includes name, age, role, performance history and personal information. If Example:
John Rodriguez is 10 years old and plays the part of Schoolboy Sam. This is his third time on stage. Previous productions include Peter Pan (Lost Boy) and Oliver! (member of Fagin's gang). John is in 5th grade at Sunny Brook Farms Elementary School. When he is not on stage he enjoys playing the trumpet, reading science fiction, and riding his skateboard. John thanks his parents and family for their support during this production.

An updated schedule will be sent out tomorrow!

09/11/2007

Great rehearsal last weekend! Make sure your cast members are practicing in between rehearsals. We will be distributing an audio CD to each family to help learn the music.

Cast Bios
All members of the cast and staff will have a headshot and bio displayed in the lobby of Bayside Performing Arts Center. Please submit your bio via email to bios@piedpiperplayers.org. Cast Bios are due Saturday, September 30, 2007.
A cast bio is a paragraph about each cast member. It is written in the third person. It usually includes name, age, current role, performance history and personal information. Example:

John Rodriguez is 10 years old and plays the part of Schoolboy Sam. This is his third time on stage. Previous productions include Peter Pan (Lost Boy) and Oliver! (member of Fagin's gang). John is in 5th grade at Sunny Brook Farms Elementary School. When he is not on stage he enjoys playing the trumpet, reading science fiction, and riding his skateboard. John thanks his parents and family for their support during this production.

Advertisements
At the Welcome meeting, I mentioned the Playbill and how we cover the printing costs by selling advertisements to local businesses, friends and family members. Attached is the Ad Form. Please consider placing an ad, and/or asking someone you know to place an ad. Questions, contact Stacy Fradkin (stfradkin@aol.com) or Janice Gumas (jherwegh@gumas.com).
Kudos
Also in the Playbill are 1-line messages called Kudos. Each cast member receives 2 "free" kudos. Additional kudos are $4.00 each. Cast members and their families can place Kudos for other cast members, staff, friends/family coming to the show, etc. It is a fun and unique way to personalize the playbill for every participant and a great way to say "Thanks!" or "Good job" to someone special. Email your kudos to playbill@piedpiperplayer.org. Print a copy of your email along with payment and give to Wendy no later than September 30, 2007. Kudos form.
Kudos may be no more than 55 characters in length (including spaces!). Each kudo must fit in one line, you cannot combine them. They may also include any of these characters: Thumbs Up; Heart; Happy Face; Two Eighth Notes; One Eighth Note; Star. You may email the attached form or just type your kudos into your email and send to playbill@piedpiperplayers.org.
