slots, and a few families that still need to sign up for a total of 5 house

could please sign up to lead the prep and clean up (in addition to what you
have already signed up for). I know how much work pulling off a show like The
Music Man is... We really appreciate everything everyone has done and continues

families that need a few more hours have these excellent opportunities!
9. Message from Rick Reynolds-
• Please review vocals on your own, we need to take big strides forward. There
are no more vocal only rehearsals. All must be off script & vocal book.
• Focus on the following:
? Know the words/lyrics
? Diction
? Project/Support - Breathe and sing out.
? Perform at the rehearsals, so that the performance doesn't look like we need
more rehearsals.

1) Set Construction/Painting.
Don't forget we need as many people as possible to help with set construction
and painting THIS weekend (4/6 6:00-9:00; 4/8 9:00-5:00, and 4/9 9:00-5:00).
Also, we will be doing set construction and painting over Spring Break (4/13
6:00-9:00pm, 4/15 9:00-5:00, 4/16 1:00-5:00). Please plan accordingly. We REALLY
need help.
2) Condition of Rehearsal Space. Parents, please speak with your cast member
about cleaning up after themselves while at rehearsal. A lot of time was spent
on Thursday night cleaning and vacuuming the room after everyone left. This
can not continue. We will be speaking with the cast about this on Saturday.
3) Water Bottles. Please do not forget to give your cast member a water bottle
with their name on it for rehearsals.
4) Publicizing The Show. While you are enjoying your spring break, please remind
your friends and family to buy tickets to the show. As a reminder, parents need
to purchase tickets to sit in the audience of the show. The easiest way for
cast families to purchase tickets is to complete the ticket order form (on the
website) and bring them to a rehearsal.
5) PJCC Preview on Thursday, April 20th. There will be a free musical preview
of the show (lasting 20-25 minutes). Details to follow soon.
6) Important Costume Update. (from Sara Steppe and Lisa Happich)

They will be distributed after Spring Break.
Location and details to follow.
* We are asking EVERYONE who is receiving costumes (or pieces of costumes) to
give us a $75.00 REFUNDABLE costume deposit. Since we are renting most of the
costumes, we need everyone to be responsible for covering the costs if your
costume is lost or ruined. You may make your checks to Pied Piper Players. They
will not be cashed unless your costume
is not returned or is damaged beyond repair.
* Socks for BOYS wearing knickers: Please provide white knee high socks or WHITE
tights to wear with your knickers. This is a
change since we told you black socks/tights before...
* Socks for BOYS/MEN wearing slacks/trousers: Please wear dark socks.

or white showing).
* Shoes for Men: Dark black or brown lace-ups, jazz shoes or maybe boots.

Sign Ups for House Duties
It's time to sign up to help during Tech Week and performances, and boy, do
we really need your help. Remember that Pied Piper Players is a volunteer-based
organization and it takes participation from each and every family to make this
season a success.
We'll be at rehearsals on Thursday and this weekend with a poster listing all
the volunteer roles and sign-up sheets.
Take a look at some of the opportunities listed below, check your calendar,
and be prepared to sign up. We're asking each family to work at least 5 performances.
At least 1 performance must be as a chaperone. Chaperones and stage crew need
to be available during Tech Week also.

the show. After performances, go through the theater to clean up and recycle
programs.

aunts and uncles, older siblings, or close friends and mentors who wish to be
part of the experience.

Please make sure you know when you are called and WHERE the rehearsals are this week (see reminder at the bottom of this email). The entire cast is called on Thursday from 6:30-8:30 at TRANSFIGURATION; Saturday from 12:30-3:00 at BAYWOOD, and Sunday, from 1:00-5:00 at BAYWOOD.
Vocals
1. We will be reviewing music with Rick Sunday before starting the run. We do
not have time to re-teach all the music again so it is the casts responsibility
to review between rehearsals. If you missed a rehearsal where music was taught,
it is your responsibility to find someone who taped it and learn it.
2. Salesman Number (Rock Island)- needs to be off book. Please review this so everyone is off book on Sunday. (salesmen, newsreader, passengers)
Set Painting at
the Greenhouse this weekend!
There will be painting at the Greenhouse. Stay tuned for a separate email with
the times and other details.
Quick All Parents Meeting on Saturday, March 18 at Baywood at 12:30.
Since we have lots of information to share with everyone on Publicity, Costumes, & Raffle, we are asking someone for each family to come on Saturday at the beginning of the ALL CAST rehearsal. IF YOU ARE PAINTING SETS, you are excused from this meeting. The costume and publicity people will be there until 3:00, so those painting can pick up their information at pick up.
Publicity
Workday, Saturday, March 18th, 12:30-3:00.
During
the ALL CAST portion of the rehearsal, we will be having our Publicity Workday.
This is an opportunity to someone from each family to pick up publicity materials
to distribute, as well as help prepare (label, stamp, collate) postcards and
flyers to be mailed/delivered. Please plan on staying for at least 1 hour to
help.
(From our hardworking Publicity Team)
We would like all parents to find the large “sign-up posters" on the wall at rehearsal. Please volunteer to post posters, and leave flyers/ticket order forms in locations such as: pediatricians, orthodontists, family dentists, preschools, libraries, and recreation and park centers. In addition, we will be focusing on theater music and dance locations. We would also like parents to volunteer the locations of other likely high traffic locations that will post our posters. Such locations might include grocery stores, health clubs, houses of worship, child focused enrichment programs. We will not have an opportunity to prescreen the locations to see if they will accept them, so we ask that you do your best sales job as their patient to convince them to accept our promotional materials. If every family could sign-up for at least 20 distribution sites, that would ensure our success. Thank you for your continued support!
Costumes
On Saturday, our costume committee will give everyone a letter with information
on each cast member's costume. They will explain the overall look of the costumes
to everyone at the All-Parents meeting and then stay to answer specific questions.
If you have something that you think might be appropriate for someone in the
cast to wear (1912 is the show period), please bring it to show to the costume
committee.
Raffle
Attached is a letter from Leslie
Ragsdale, our Raffle Chair. Please plan on picking up your raffle tickets when
you pick up your publicity and costume information on Saturday. Our goal is
to have every cast family sell or buy at least 2 books of 6 raffle tickets.
The tickets sell for $10 a book or $2 if sold individually. Details in the attached
letter from Leslie.

Hello Music Man
Families
We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. Just a few reminders...
1. Conflict Calendars- Please keep Alyssa Goldrath updated with your conflicts.
When filling out the conflict calendar, some people wrote "possible"
conflict on certain dates. Let Alyssa know a.s.a.p. when and if something changes.
Please keep in mind that cast members are only allowed to miss 2 all cast practices!
2. Cast List -This list will be published and distributed with addresses and
phone # etc. at this Sunday's rehearsal. If you do NOT want this
information published please let Paula know by Thursday night (Feb. 23).
3. Costumes- The costume form is past due. If you have not turned in your form,
please turn it in on Sunday.
4. Rehearsal Venues- Please note the three different rehearsal locations listed
at the bottom of this email! Please note there was a change in
Saturday's rehearsal from 3:00-5:00. Charlie, the Salesmen and Newsreaders are
now called (instead of the barbershop quartet). Please let Alyssa know ASAP
if you cannot make it. The Train passengers are not called for Saturday.
5. Playbill Advertisements (from Dana Halley)- We are looking for advertisers
to run ads in our upcoming The Music Man playbill. Advertising
helps defray the cost of printing the playbill/program, so that we don't need
to take the money out of our production budget. Here's why running an ad in
our playbill makes great sense:
Reach over 2000 local residents
Advertising in a Pied Piper Players playbill give business owners a chance to
promote their businesses to a large group of mostly local theatergoers. Approximately
2000 folks have come to see our previous plays, and we're confident that The
Music Man will bring in even more. And of course, everyone who comes to see
the play looks at the playbill. Since most of our audience members come from
nearby peninsula towns (mainly San Mateo, Foster City, Burlingame and Belmont),
advertising in the PPP playbill gives local businesses valuable, targeted exposure.
Toot your own horn
Also, the program offers a great opportunity to plug your own business. Running
your business card will cost you only $35 and requires no creative output. Or,
you can put together a half or full-page ad for enhanced exposure. If you need
our help putting together graphics and copy, we can offer assistance. Right
now, the inside of the front and back covers are still available, but they won't
last long.
Kudos and then some
We also encourage you to purchase ad space to congratulate your PPP cast or
crew member. (It really makes our cast feel great to see their friends' and
family's words of encouragement in print on opening night!) You can run such
an ad for as little as $35.
Now spread the word
Kindly print out the attached form (2 pages) and distribute to any potential
advertisers you might come across. Ideas: a favorite restaurant, your dry cleaner,
professional service providers (e.g. lawyers, dentists, mortgage brokers, real
estate agents), florists, music teachers, local stores, etc. We could really
use your help soliciting these ad sales.
The deadline will be here before we know it and we need to sell the ads.
Please contact me at danamoe@rcn.com or 638.1665, if you have any questions.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to call or email us. See you this weekend!

As you know, there is no rehearsal this weekend. Those who are called this Thursday are listed at the bottom of this email. This week's update is all about the Raffle.
Music Man Raffle (from Leslie Ragsdale)
While we’ve just started with rehearsals and it may seem as if opening night is still a long ways off, the raffle donation request letters have already been mailed and we’ve already started receiving prizes!!
Raffle ticket sales and donations are an important source of fund raising revenue for Pied Piper Players so I’d like to ask each of you for some help in making this raffle a huge success by asking around to some of the places you frequent or people you know that may be in a position to donate a prize to our raffle. I’ve enclosed the donor solicitation letter in case you would like to print it off and pass it out as you ask for donations.
I know that we’re all so busy right now, but please keep this email around as a reminder to ask a relative or local business that you frequent if they would like to donate a gift or service to help out our raffle. I want to give you as much time as possible to help make our Music Man raffle a huge success. For some of you this may be an easy request. You may have family or friends that you can ask if they would be interested in donating a gift or service that we could use for our raffle. For others, like myself, it means reaching out whenever you get the chance and asking the businesses you frequent if they would like to make a donation for our raffle. You’ll be surprised at how many would be delighted to donate. Especially when they know that their donation will benefit the kids of our community.
Whether or not you pass out a donation letter, a ‘thank you’ letter will be sent out for every donation we receive, so please remember to include with all donations the mailing address details and the person that should be thanked. Our ‘thank you’ letter will provide the non-profit tax ID number that they will need at the end of the year for tax purposes.
To make our raffle a success, we need lots of people to buy raffle tickets and the best way to do that is to have LOTs of great raffle prizes!! Many of you know Frankie Hebert from past PPP productions. Although her daughter is not in our current show, she has already built on her past amazing work with the raffle and sent out donor requests for our current raffle. Due to her great work, we've already received a number of excellent prizes. Current prizes include: Tickets to Beach Blanket Babylon, Theater Works, Peninsula Ballet Theater, lots of video games, Sees Candy, Entrance to The Jungle, SF Zoo, Happy Hallow Zoo, Children's Discovery Museum of SJ, Exploratorium, Six Flags Marine World, PJCC Fitness guest passes, gift certificates and much more... Let's add to the momentum. If you could make it your goal to supply at least one raffle prize each family, we could reach our magic number of 76 raffle prizes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I appreciate the time you will be taking from your busy days to reach out to others in your family, friends and community. If I can answer any questions you may have, please don’t hesitate to send me an email. My contact information is leslie_ragsdale@comcast.net or 650-348-5001.

Publicity Update: There will be an important meeting for all the families signed up on the publicity committee (Kathleen Wenthworth, Penny Fergeson, Gail Roberts, Amy Wu, Linda Himmelstein, Kelly Clarke, Kristin Cuneo, Chris Redfield, Anne Lynde, Lissa Shope-Teoman, Sara Steppe, Cheryl Herrera, Susie Reeves) from 10:05-11:00 on Saturday, Feb 11. The meeting will be in the PJCC Boardroom (next to the lobby). You can drop your kids off at the rehearsal and then come to the boardroom as you are leaving the PJCC.
Costume
Update: Please turn in your completed costume form at Sunday's rehearsal
(available on the "downloadable forms" section of our website www.piedpiperplayers.org).
If you are unable to do the measurements at home, please stay 5-20 minutes after
Sunday's rehearsal to get help with your measurements (members of our costume
committee will be available to help).
Also, the Costume Committee needs more members. If anyone is willing to switch
from their current committee to costumes, please let us know.
Other Announcements:
1) On the master calender, we indicated that there would be a meeting for all
committee heads on Sunday. That meeting is cancelled. Instead, we are working
with each committee head individually.
2) A cast list (with names, emails, addresses & home phone numbers) will
be distributed in the coming weeks. Please email us if you do NOT want your

Rehearsal
Reminder:
We will be holding our Music Man rehearsals at 5 different locations (Transfiguration
Church, Peninsula Temple Beth El, Baywood Elementary School, Borel Middle School,
and The PJCC). Please make sure you carefully look at the schedule to see where
we are rehearsing. The schedule is always in the Calendar Section of our website.
This weekend's rehearsals will be held at the PJCC on 800 Foster City Blvd,
Foster City. Please plan on walking your child into the building to ensure they
get to the rehearsal room. Ask your child to sign in and out for every rehearsal.
All cast members should bring a notepad and pencil to take down choreography
and blocking notes. Please have the cast member dress comfortably AND bring
a water bottle (with their name on it) and snack. All cast members should pack
a lunch for Saturday's rehearsal. The PJCC requests that no pork or shellfish
be brought to the facility. For those who have never been to the PJCC, please
allow a few extra minutes to get to the rehearsal room. You will be asked to
sign in at the security desk when you enter the lobby of the PJCC
